DSG and the Datenschutzbehörde — what Austrian ITAD evidence must carry

The Data Protection Authority in Vienna audits controllers, not ITAD logos. The evidence sits with you.

No licence, a file

The Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna) supervises controllers and processors under GDPR and the DSG. It does not licence ITAD vendors. Anyone writing “DSB-certified” is inventing.

What counts: erasure certificate per serial, a defined method (NIST SP 800-88), an unbroken chain. RecyclicTech delivers the file your DPO can show. Accountability stays with the controller.

The DSG supplements, it does not replace

The Austrian DSG concretises GDPR — reporting paths, fines, authority. It does not create a special Austrian wipe. NIST SP 800-88 remains the technical method; the DSG the evidence duty.

Complaints go to the Datenschutzbehörde, not the ITAD vendor. That is why the file must sit with you.
