Secure data destruction — method named per serial

NIST SP 800-88 Clear, Purge or Destroy, named per serial. A recycling ticket is not that certificate. RecyclicTech will not certify a factory reset.

Process

  1. 01 · Isolate

Pull media. Serials. Chain of custody starts on the floor.

  2. 02 · Choose

Clear / Purge keep residual value when reuse is allowed. Destroy when it is not.

  3. 03 · Verify

If erase fails, that serial is destroyed. Exception on the same file.

  4. 04 · Certify

Certificate per drive or serial, not per pallet.

Evidence

  • UK certificate-of-data-destruction file exists because buyers search that query.
  • UK NIST, HDD, SSD, on-site vs off-site and chain-of-custody files exist.
  • No ICO registration number is published. Empty is the useful signal.

Questions

Straight answers.

What is NIST 800-88?+

A media-sanitisation publication. RecyclicTech uses it because it is checkable. It is not a UK licence.

Is data wiping enough?+

When Purge verifies, yes. When it does not, Destroy. RecyclicTech will not certify a wipe that did not complete.

Can SSDs be securely erased?+

Often, when sanitize completes. Flash does not degauss. RecyclicTech will not pretend it does.

What is a certificate of destruction?+

A per-serial record of the method that ran. A recycling ticket is not that certificate.

What is chain of custody for IT equipment?+

Who held which serial, when, and where. RecyclicTech starts it on the floor, not at the depot PDF.

Can data destruction be audited?+

Yes. That is the point of per-serial certificates and the append-only trail. A badge page is not an audit.
